For 2021, we’re excited to introduce Moonshot Programming in which we highlight leading Health Transformers focused on our 12 Health Moonshots. This month, we’re highlighting the startups in our portfolio that are focused on creating a world where every child has access to quality care.

Remarkable progress has been made in the last 20 years in reducing the childhood mortality rate and prevalence of diseases. However, quality and access to care still vary significantly around the world, with new health concerns emerging.

According to research, eight percent of children in the US have an identified food allergy. Every year, more than 1.7 million children under the age of five die of preventable environmental hazards like air pollution, hazardous chemicals, inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene. Nearly 100,000 kids under 15 die of cancer even though the vast majority of childhood cancers are potentially curable with existing treatments. We’re also seeing the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic take a toll on children’s health and wellbeing during important periods of physical, social, and emotional development.

At StartUp Health, we’re proud to have backed dozens of innovative entrepreneurs who are combatting these exact issues to ensure that every child has access to quality care. Browse the full list below.
