“It started with a dream,” said Sundeep Bhan, CEO & Co-founder, Prognos. “The dream was if we can predict disease earlier we can improve health and improve outcomes.”

In this episode of StartUp Health NOW, Sundeep Bhan chats with Unity Stoakes, president of StartUp Health, at the StartUp Health Village in New York, New York. They discussed how Prognos is using diagnostic data to help predict diseases at an earlier stage to drive better decision-making, and why he feels it’s the golden age of health tech.

“Our core database, the Prognos registry, just crossed about 12 billion medical records for about 170 million patients,” said Bhan. “That now allows us to do tons of stuff. We can now predict around 50 disease areas.”

As one of the original Health Transformers at StartUp Health, Prognos is changing the healthcare landscape by thinking about data and how it can be leveraged in a way to improve health and make a real impact. By building these AI solutions, Bhan and his team are playing a key role in helping find therapies, and then connecting patients that could benefit from the treatment. It’s part of an effort to transform health and wellness that we call our Cost to Zero Moonshot.

“I think we all know somebody, a loved one, directly, indirectly that could have benefited from knowing what was going on earlier,” said Bhan. “And that’s really what’s driven us all these years.”

”Our clients and our partners drive us every day to innovate more.” says Sundeep Bhan, (left)
